四月底，美国国家科学院（National Academy of Sciences）公布的新入选院士名单，将25名外籍院士名单中的中国科学家颜宁再一次带入了大家的视野。颜宁之前在节目中的演讲视频再次登上热搜，收割了不少网友的赞美。

在节目中，当被主持人介绍为“女科学家时”时，颜宁随即反问道“其实我对‘女科学家’这个说法，是拒绝的。为什么女科学家前面一定要加个‘女’字呢？”她还强调了女性的独立，称：不为悦己者容，为自己容。

不得不说，有气质有实力的颜宁实在是当代女性的榜样~

而在这个五月初，英国还有两位女性成功进军了男性占有长期主导地位的职业领域。她们分别是英国新任国防大臣彭妮·莫当特（Penny Mordaunt）和英国皇家骑兵团第一位女性骑兵（Nina Croker），一起来看看她们励志的逆袭人生吧！

据路透社5月2日报道，英国首相特蕾莎·梅(Theresa May)因国家安全委员会关于中国华为公司的讨论遭到泄露解雇了前任国防大臣加文·威廉姆森（Gavin Williamson）。

而接任的彭妮·莫当特，成为了英国历史上第一位女性国防大臣，她是目前下院女性议员中唯一一位皇家海军预备役军官，拥有中尉军衔，曾任国防部副大臣。

英国《太阳报》称，这位广受欢迎、直言不讳的脱欧派人士显然非常适合这份工作。

据其报道，彭妮·莫当特1973年出生于德文郡的海滨小镇托基，是一名前伞兵的女儿，1995年从雷丁大学毕业并获得哲学学士学位。在如今的风光背后，她有一段十分艰辛的成长经历：

Ms Mordaunt had a difficult upbringing after her mother died of breast cancer when she was 15.

下面我们将视线从英国政府转向英国皇室，据Daily Mail 5月5日报道，英国皇家内近卫骑兵团招募了三百多年来了第一位女性骑兵——妮娜·克罗克（Nina Croker）。

Yet Trooper Nina Croker, 29, has made history to become the first woman to join the Household Cavalry, the 359-year-old regiment with the iconic tunics and plumed helmets at the heart of the Queen’s birthday parade, royal weddings and state occasions.

Croker knows that becoming the first woman to join the regiment, which is part of the Household Division — the only operational and ceremonial units in the world with soldiers who have served in conflicts in Afghanistan, Iraq, the Balkans and Northern Ireland — is making a point. “Girls are just as capable as men,” she said.

不少人质疑克罗克因为是个女生所以受到了偏袒，但她一一否定，并表示“我把只自己认作骑兵的一员。”
